Long-term care policies define which provider types qualify. In California, home care agencies are licensed as Home Care Organizations and their caregivers are registered Home Care Aides. Golden Age Companions holds HCO License No. 304700544 and supplies licensing, tax, insurance, and care documentation on request. Each carrier determines whether services from a given provider are eligible under the policy.
A licensed Home Care Organization employs its caregivers, runs background checks and TB clearance, carries workers’ compensation and liability insurance, and registers each caregiver with the state Home Care Aide Registry. A registry that simply refers independent contractors does none of that, and some long-term care policies treat the two very differently.
We cannot approve ourselves. Provider eligibility is a determination made by the carrier under the terms of the policy. We supply complete, accurate documentation quickly — that is the part within our control.
